Honorary Consul of Albania Shahin Omarov laid flowers at the Memorial of the Victims of Totalitarianism

On the 79th anniversary of the Katyn crime, Shahin Omarov, together with the general public of Kharkov, honored the memory of the dead Polish citizens in 1940 in Poland. The participants laid flowers and honored the memory of the dead with a minute of silence. Then the holy mass was served with ecumenical prayer.

The Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkov, Janusz Jablonski, representatives of the Polish diaspora in Kharkov, representatives of city and regional authorities, diplomatic institutions, public organizations, students and schoolchildren took part in the mourning event.

The Katyn massacre - the “Katyn crime” - a Soviet war crime, the massacres of Polish citizens, mostly captured officers of the Polish army, carried out in the spring of 1940.

On November 26, 2010, the State Duma of Russia adopted a statement “On the Katyn tragedy and its victims”, in which it acknowledges that the mass execution of Polish citizens in Katyn was carried out according to the direct instructions of Stalin and other Soviet leaders and is a crime of the Stalin regime.
