Honorary Consul of Albania took part in a rally on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan

Together with the general public, Shahin Omarov laid flowers at the monument to soldiers-internationalists on the street Culture.

The rally on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was attended by veterans, relatives of the dead military, the leadership of the city and region, representatives of the clergy, the diplomatic corps, public organizations, and citizens. Those present laid flowers at the monument and paid tribute to the victims with a moment of silence.

The withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, in accordance with the Geneva agreements on a political settlement of the situation around the DRA, began on May 15, 1988 and lasted several months. On February 15, 1989, the last units of the Soviet troops left Afghanistan. Since 2004, this day has been celebrated as a day of honoring combatants in other countries. In the performance of an international duty in Afghanistan, 124 Kharkovites were killed.
