Historic breakthrough in relations between Kosovo and Serbia - an example of strengthening peace and security in the Middle East

07.09.2020

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Prime Minister Avdulla Hoti, through the mediation of US President Donald Trump, agreed to normalize economic relations and signed an agreement on economic cooperation.

One of the most significant elements of the agreement signed in the US is Kosovo's decision to join the visa-free zone previously agreed upon by Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia. Another important point was mutual political agreements: Kosovo pledged to freeze the process of joining any international organizations for one year, and Serbia - for the same time, to stop the process of struggle to withdraw the recognition of Kosovo's independence.

The agreement resulted in the recognition of Kosovo's independence, as well as the opening of the Kosovo Embassy in Israel.
