HONORARY CONSUL OF THE REPUBLIC OF ALBANIA IN KHARKIV

Assistant Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania in Kharkiv Elvin Omarov took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the victims of the Chernobyl disaster on the occasion of the Chernobyl tragedy

The action of memory of the victims of the Chernobyl disaster took place near the monument to the victims and liquidators of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident in the Youth Park (87, Pushkinskaya Street). At the beginning of the action, a memorial prayer was held for the victims of the Chernobyl disaster. To the assembled liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, with words of gratitude, the Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Yulia Svetlichnaya addressed.
The event was attended by the heads of the Kharkov regional state administration, the heads of the Kharkov City Council (deputy Gorbunova-Ruban S.O.), representatives of the Chernobyl organizations, the diplomatic corps, priests, heads of universities, students, the general public of the Kharkov region.
The gathered honored the memory of the victims of the Chernobyl disaster with a minute of silence and laid flowers at the monument.
 

Reference. April 26, 1986, one of the biggest accidents at nuclear facilities occurred - the explosion of Unit 4 of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. In the elimination of the consequences of the accident, about 600 thousand Ukrainians, including Kharkiv citizens, took part. As of January 1, 2017 in Kharkov lived 8.8 thousand citizens affected by the accident at the Chernobyl NPP, over 30 years from the time of the disaster from the consequences of the disaster in the Kharkiv region passed away more than 7,5  thousand people.
