Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to Ukraine Shpresa Kureta and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Albania Shahin Omarov accepted congratulations on the 106th anniversary of the independence of Albania
13.12.2018Solemn events dedicated to the 106-th anniversary of the independence of Albania, the 25-th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and Ukraine, as well as the year of Albanian National Hero George Kastrioti Skanderbeg, were held at the Kharkiv Academic Drama Theater. The Deputy Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Anatoly Babichev, the Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv Tatyana Chechetova-Terashvili, deputies of the Kharkiv Regional Council, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, the head of the Albanian Diaspora in Ukraine, the Ambassador of Albania to Ukraine, the Honorary Consul of Albania Inter-Parliamentary Relations between Ukraine and Albania Vitaly Kurilo, Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Khodarev.
The holiday was also attended by representatives of the Kharkiv diplomatic corps, religious and international organizations, local government, the general public.
The performance of the creative groups of Albanians from the Odessa and Zaporozhye regions, who performed Albanian traditional folk songs and dances, passed down from generation to generation and preserved by the Albanians of Ukraine to this day, became the decoration of the holiday.
For all guests of the event, a thematic exhibition was organized in the hall of the theater with traditional objects of Albanian life.
After the concert, the reception was held by the Ambassador of Albania to Ukraine Shpresa Kureta and the Honorary Consul of Albania Shahin Omarov.
Reference. Albanian Independence Day is a national holiday, celebrated annually in the country on November 28. On this day in 1912, the Declaration of State Sovereignty was signed. Prior to independence, Albania did not have statehood, being more than 500 years an integral part of the Ottoman Empire.
